Sorry, but you have to pick one. You get to list your top three, but you can only take one class each year.

The owner of the home is a photographer as well (total chance thing)

Here are the people I know personally and what I think: Doug Box - Well what can be said - the man rocks. While he is traditional that tradition is the key to everything we do as photographers - however most newbies simply do not realize that. He has been teaching what the one light workshop does for over 20 years now but mixed in with traditional posing. So if you want to learn that aspect of lighting and more he would be a great class to go with. Collen Gonsar and Darty Hines - They are amazing - high volume event with high end seniors - a rare mixture in a business. Great marketing minds as well and fun people to be around. If you shoot Seniors or Events or want to get into them or stronger from a business stand point these guys would be a great choice. They also own and are in charge of SYNC which we will be speaking at in Jan/Feb. in St. Pete - amazing event. Jamie Hayes and Mary Fisk-Taylor - While I do not know Jamie much I know Mary pretty well and she is AMAZING - the very best sales person I know in the business. She knows this business inside and out so if business is your choice they would be a good choice as well. Hanson Fong - the Orig. Fong :) - Posing KING and if you want to learn more about Posing and Lighting Hanson has a great way of teaching and learning this concept, one of the very best I have ever seen. His passion is amazing and it wears off on you. Julieanne Kost and Jack Davis - I do not know Julieanne but Jack is THE MAN with Photoshop. I wish I could take this class - I have seen Jack speak twice and WOW does this guy blow me away. If you want to know more on Photoshop THIS IS the class to take! Ann K. Monteith and Carol Andrews - I do not know Ann but Carol is an amazing Houston girl who I love. I consider her a mentor on many levels and she knows business like crazy. From the PPA National Board to Home Studio Carol is a solid wealth of information. Karen Peters and Janine Killian as well as Larry Peters and Brian Killian. A Husband/Wife/Daughter/Son-in-Law team who are amazing at business - seniors - marketing and more. From PhotoVision DVD's to setting the tone in senior marketing with props which are standard in today's portraits to a lot more. Either of these classes will serve you will since the teachers are very educated in the field. Ryan and Ralph Romaguera - Well what can I say Ralph is one of my MAIN MENTORS in my life in this business. The Godfather of the PPA and his son's as well as his Son-In-Law Roc are the KINGS of event photography in the country. Based out of New Orleans these guys are truly the very best at blending High End Senior marketing with High Volume Event Based business. On top of that they are amazing people, love to share and truly want the professional aspects of photography to get better and better. JB and DeEtte Sallee - Amazing artist out of Dallas - I noticed they wont let anyone in their class from "their market" which I personally do not care for, but regardless if you can get into their class they are well worth the week and will teach you things. John Wilson - Is a normal poster on Pro4Um and is a super nice guy. While I do not know him personally I feel he would be worth dropping money on to spend time with for the week.
Jeff and Julia Woods - Another WOW couple and someone who you will learn so much from. Inspriational - Fun - Talented - all help explain this couple. Great speakers and teachers and very humble in the process. Jen Hillenga - is one of my very best friends but besides that fact she is AMAZING - a true artist so her major draw back is trying to copy her when reality is you wont be able too - it just comes natural to her. However she is an amazing teacher and well worth the week in her class. Bry Cox I just met at AfterDark - REALLY IMPRESSED by him - GREAT teacher - Great insight - and I feel well worth the week as well - in fact I am interested in spending more time with him down the road.
I am sure there are other amazing teachers at Texas School but the ones listed are the only ones I know personally about or at least personal information on. As with every Texas School the powers at be really do a great job at pulling in education which is at the top of the list in the country, so I am sure any choice you make will be great.

So people from the DFW area can't sit in their class?
I'm going to sit here quietly and think of yellow daisies before I say something my momma wouldn't be proud of.

So maybe you have hope Chris.
Jen is also going to be the person who marries Suzy and I - she is getting ordained for us, yes I love her that much - it will truly be an honor!

There may be Mike! Seriously... I'd wax her studio floors for a week with a toothbrush just to be able to hang with her!
And that is seriously cool! I'll bet that will be a wedding to remember!

MyKey - thank you for the insight. This definitely helps to narrow down the choices.
When are you guys going to teach at Texas School??? A whole week with the TriCoast folks... now that would be awesome!!
Thanks again.

Thanks again. | Not sure if we ever well, of course we have not been asked either so I guess that needs to happen first.
We are doing Triangle School and Georgia School this year both 5 day layouts like Texas School. Of course not as big but that gives you the chance to really learn too :)
Triangle School is in Pittsburgh, PA in March
Georgia School is in Aug. in North GA in the foothills.
They will be the most intense workshops we have ever done covering so many aspects of lighting, posing, workflow and much much more!
One day maybe Texas School but I also enjoy traveling too so it is all good! Thanks for the vote though please tell them you would like us there if your interested, maybe one day they will ask :) | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
