Business Tip - When in doubt, spell it out

Make it ubber clear. What? EVERYTHING!

There are so many different studios and everyone does things so differently that its really important to make HOW YOU DO THINGS very very clear.

When you do NOT tell people what to expect, they make assumptions, and grab a comparison they are familiar with, and fill in the missing info. This leads to unhappy clients and unrealistic expectations.

Example - pick up policies. I do pick ups by appointment only. Why - b/c we have limited hours AND (more importantly) I dont want people trying to pick up in the middle of a session or proofing - especially boudoir. They all want their privacy and time. Before I told clients this (now they get a card with an appointment pick up times for that week with a reminder not to come outside of those times as to give others the privacy during that they got at their session) they would do all sorts of things. Some even wanted me to drop what I was doing and go meet them there NOW. Anyway, we spell out everything, from shooting, to proofing, to pick up.

So here is my tid bid for now, when in doubt, spell it out. You can never give someone TOO MUCH info. = way happier clients.

I got hugs today at pick up. (heather can testify how ubber happy they had to be to hug me).

All my clients also saw the other women picking up their photos and they all copied each other with how happy and excited they were. Awesome. Lots of hugs. Except from my NY friend - I shot a girl from Flushing. We hip bumped. lol.

Pick up appointments rock.
