OK, I just shot my first senior set earlier this week and doing a presentation for friends and family next week. My question is what order do you show the photos? Do you show them in order they were taken? In order of what you think is best to worst? Worst to best? Is there any rhyme or reason to the way that you order your presentation?!? All ideas and suggestions are encouraged and welcomed. Let me know what has worked for you and what hasn't. Thanks in advance.

Start strong, end strong, just like a portfolio presentation. Start with a couple you know will please the mom and a couple to really impress the kid. Follow with some that are just so-so, but be sure you have something to wow them at the end. I recommend if you are doing a presentation that you have some number system and each person has an order form with corresponding numbers so that they can check off the ones they like as you go along. Are you showing hard copies or a slideshow?

I show them in the order they were taken, since I show only 15-30 portraits from a session, they should all be fairly strong portraits. I may try it in a portfolio way this year, see how that works.

It's a slideshow type of presentation, was planning on showing about 50 pics, I feel all are pretty strong. Most are processed in a normal manner but I processed a few in black/white and a few others in a a grunge type processing. Now my other question, I've played the slideshow a few times, I like how it looks, but there is no corresponding number that you can see while viewing the picture.... Any ideas on how to work around that? I figured we would watch the slide show thru once, then go thru it one at a time. When viewed one at a time, I can select the image and you can see the image #.

Show only your best work. Better to show 20-25 strong images than 50-60 strong/weak mix.

Only showing 20-25 huh.... I guess I was hoping to sell a lot that's why I was going to show a lot. LOL..... I could pick out a few here and there to just show them the best of the best.

we show more images we think mom is likely to like (and buy) opposed to what we think the teenager likes. how many teenagers whip out the check book and buy a picture?
showing too many will get them overwhelmed. best of the best sounds like a good plan.

Hmm, the image numbering issue is quite the conundrum. I'm really not sure other than applying a number overlay on each image you plan on presenting, kind of like a watermark in one of the corners...

From Texas School - I don't remember who...but this is what I remember hearing.
Let them know... your going to show them the slide show once...and for them just to enjoy it. You'll play it a second time for them, and then the third go around, you'll go through and start getting their feedback on images.
The Pro Select guy was talking about this...
I don't know what your using to do your slide shows - but if your doing projection, then you can have your files in Lightroom to eliminate the ones they don't like...
When I first started, I would pop in a DVD and we'd watch the show... then watch it the second time... then I'd pull out my laptop, and go through the images one by one... Like this one? Okay, keeper (drag it to the 'Keep' folder)... Like this one? No... yeah, her smile is a bit fake... (drag it to the 'Discard' folder).... Like this one... okay...mixed emotions? (Drag it to the Maybe folder)...
Once you've gone through them all - open up the Keep folder, and place the order...
