Model Shoots

You'll have to forgive my not understanding, but how exactly does one make money doing shoots of models. I get that commercial projects pay money, as well as art prints, but how do you folks make money doing shots of models?

Model shots are more of a way to learn better lighting/posing techniques to do portrait shots, if you can make a model look especially good then you can do better with portraits.

Also if you have a theme that you are building on you can get a group of models to do a unpaid shoot for you for you to produce a product from that theme. Say Tattooed Chicks for a Calendar or Maybe folks doing mundane acts but in a different way.

Then there are also headshots where you sell models a stack of prints for them to use and you make a bit off of that.
