In some districts, such as ours, when it is perceived as a commercial venture it requires district approval. I took pictures of our band and orchestra students to post for their concerts in December. Since I am retiring this year, no money was involved as they were my gift to the students and their parents. I did put my personal brand on the images. Any money contributed would have gone to either group. So far, no one has complained. I did not ask the district, but I did keep the principal up to date on what was going on. In most cases our parents are low income. I presented myself without pushing myself.
Since I have a photo club at the school, a district representative has asked me to teach a class to district employees. Many parents know I do photography and that I will focus on it more when I retire in June. |
