Drill Team Dinner Photos - 01-28-2010, 03:24 PM

How would you price a Drill Team Dinner Event? They want package prices for each girl with parents, prepaid packages. What is a good starting package and price? How do you charge for seperate snapshots, awards photos?
Any sample order forms appreciated.

Thanks,
Joyce

I shot a 25th reunion for a basketball team last weekend. The people who hired me paid my rate ($125/hr) and I gave them a disc of final images for that. The images aren't as retouched as regular portrait shoots because they were 50% candids. I just processed them in raw and did some sharpening and that was pretty much it.

The BEST part is that the images went to my online gallery where all the partygoers can go to buy their own copy of the DVD. I handed out tons of business cards so they knew how to get in touch with me, plus the organizer who hired me gave out my info in her speech and on Facebook. I also went through and uploaded some of the images to FB and friend-requested everyone I could find from that night and tagged them in the photos.

Of course, I realized later that having them on FB might lose me some DVD sales, but the bigger picture is that I added a TON of new, local, FB friends. I live in a fairly small town and having all that word of mouth is better right now than sales. My goal is to be EVERYWHERE.

Hope some of this info was helpful!!!!!

The last drill team dinner I shot was strictly for my time and I gave them the images on disc. Unlike a prom or other event, many of these girls did not bring a date and didn't want photos necessarily. Most of these events, the sponsor says that everyone will buy, but the reality is that they don't. In my case, I told them they can pay me for my time, etc and if everyone will buy, they can sell them and recoup their cost and add money to the drill team funds. They ended up just giving the girls the photos because they realized I was right. Good luck.

Did you give them a price by the hour or just a set price? Do you mind me asking how much?
