Trunk show and photo shoot - 03-21-2010, 07:02 PM

I was asked if I would be interested in hosting a trunk show and offering a photo shoot of the clothing at the same time. Sounded like a great opportunity, so I said yes. She has never done this before, so I get to handle the photo side however I want. I was thinking about offering a small session fee (since it would be around 5 minute shoot) and small "introductory packages".

Has anyone done something like this and have any tips, or ideas on how to make this work?

I will have people over to my house, serve snacks and such and make it fun.

Thinking about making it no obligation to buy either prints or clothing, more of getting the word out kinda thing.

Thank you so much!

Can you print immediately after shooting? Helps if they'll have something to go home with. Plus, when soliciting people to come to the show, is the photography aspect being mentioned as well? I wouldn't split the session fee and prints, but charge for them together as a package to simplify the process.

It's for elephants who want to accessorize.

Actually, it's when ladies get together for food, fun, fellowship and a sales pitch to buy clothing, jewelry, handbags, cookware, Tupperware, Avon, etc. etc. etc.

Trunk shows are often done by a designer that has little or no distribution outside of small boutiques. It allows them to market directly to the consumer offering larger profits and word of mouth cache. Or so says my wife

This trunk show is for children's clothing.

I can print then, but would rather not. The clothing will have to be ordered, so I would deliver prints at the same time as the clothing.

I was thinking this morning about making it a free event, maybe have a drawing where you get an entry for every $100 you spend or so with either myself or the clothing rep. Not sure what the drawing would be for yet.

Thanks for the ideas!
