Open House - Anyone? - 04-12-2010, 03:54 PM

Anyone do an open house at their studio? I decided to have one and now have more people coming that I know what to do with. Surprise! So, I was just gonna chat, show them around, and have my displays up. Anything else?

Anyone have words of wisdom?

:o)

What about a drawing for newcomers? (i.e. your clients might bring their friends) You might be able to get some info and follow up on people you don't know yet... Just a thought.

Holly, there is a sculptor in Fort Worth that has wine and cheese parties in her studio. People (potential customers) get to view her work, eat a little and talk with her about what they might want.. Her metal sculptures go for the 4 and 5 figures so it must be effective.

I would have a slideshow running of the type of work you would like to do more of.

If you think you might be overloaded stretch the time out and make it come and go. If I thought 50 people would show up I would run for three or four hours. You want to have a few minutes to chat personally with everyone that comes in.

I may be in a similar situation soon... we'll have an open house if we move the studio.

What??? If you move to another location - you may have to change the name (provided it's not along Highway 360)

Seriously... where are you thinking about going?

Hehe .. did I say that outloud?

If I were moving, preference would be given to another suite in the same complex... assuming they had one that had really awesome floors and walls....
