Pitching to a School - 07-23-2010, 01:17 PM

Okay ... So, I was dropping off my step son at his school for Summer Camp, and noticed a flyer that stated soccer and volleyball sign up for This following school year.

He is in the 7th grade.

My question is, how do you go about jumping in there and creating some biz with the school?
What do I need to bring that forth to his principle and coach?

Some background: I did some photos of my step-son and his team last year for soccer and parents wanted to give me like a buck a photo. Eh, it was the parent in me that said, no. Just pass my name around, no need for payment.

So, I spoke to another parent there and they said I should charge a bit for it, but to ask the Head Principle.

So, again, how do I go about doing that and what would I need to set that up?

Would they need like Tax info from me (my tax id), my DBA, credentials ... ??? This is the first time I have thought about it.

If I go forth with it, I was thinking about getting a SmugMug account or something in that area to have my photos loaded on line for parents to buy some prints and other cool things of their kids.
Also have separate Biz Cards printed with a link to their photos for their event ... So, I will be creating Basic Biz Cards for every event. Maybe have a discount on there.

Any info would be great. Thanks.

More than likely the sports teams are part of the contract the school has with a school photography company like Lifetouch or Olan Mills. You would probably need to check with either the principal of that school or the school district superintendent.

O okay. Thanks, Don. If they do, I will leave it alone.
