Are the fees similar to regular cc machines?
I'm also curious as to how reliable they are. Would suck to tell someone you can take credit cards on the spot and then look like a fumbling idiot when you can't get the thing to work. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. I have signed up with squareup... haven't gotten the reader yet though (it is on the way). I picked them because of the reasonable merchant fees and basically no other cost and that I had heard good things about them from other users. It is a full solution though - not just a an app, but a card reader/scanner as well.

I use the Credit Card Terminal by Inner Fence, totally love it. The app doesn't charge the processing fees, your merchant in the background does.
So whatever your rates with your merchant are will apply to payment processing over the iPhone, too. The app to do this costs only one or two bucks to purchase.

Thanks!
One thing I'm noticing as I'm looking into this is the monthly fees. For someone who only needs to charge to a cc once in a while, is there a way around this? Maybe with higher percentages per transaction?

Maybe with higher percentages per transaction? | There are no monthly fees with Square - and the percentages are right at 3% (depending on swipe vs. manual entry).

Currently using a Nurit 8020 wireless CC reader.

Just read about Square. Wondering if you can type your transactions in without swiping the card (for phone or mail orders).

Just got my square reader also, have yet to use it though other than a test run on my own CC. And from what I read you can type in a number, but the percentage charge for the transaction is higher.

I use iDeposit which is connected to my Business Bank. And was recommended by my bank. I feel more at ease and secure when a bank recommends it and suggests it to their clientele.
WORKS WONDERS!!!
Sure you have to type it in ... but that really doesn't bother me.

ok, i signed up with squareup. How long will it take to get the reader?
I like the fact that there's no merchant or gateway fees, just the percentage. Free software and free card reader. And the percentage is cheaper if you swipe. No contracts or anything.
From reading through the fine print, it seems like it works just like paypal where they hold on to your money (making money off the entire pool of accounts) until you tell it to withdraw to your checking account. That's fine with me, for the little bit of payments I would be taking.

-Ray- | The Square app is at least Android, iPhone, and iPad. It might even be possible to do it on Blackberry as it just connects through a 3.5mm headphone jack.
