I got this iemail this morning. Does it look FISHY?

Greetings!
My name is Joe and my wife's name is Pamela, we live and work as wine sellers(wholesale/retail) in England and China and will be relocating to the State of Texas, USA on the 10th of January,2011.

I got your contact information on the internet after a search for a professional photographer. Are you available to offer 4hours of photographic service for the celebration of our 5th wedding anniversary on our arrival to the States. Myself,my wife,my lovely daughter-Debbie and about 12 family members and friends will be present.

Could you please provide answers to these questions if you are interested in this offer

1)Are you available to provide this service on any date between January 15th and 20th? We are flexible, what precise date will be fine for you so as to include this in our plan?
2)What is your address location in Texas so as to know how close you are to us ?

Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me on my phone no: +xxxxxxxxxxxx

I'd wonder if they're not simply trying to build up an email spam list.

Did you do a google on the phone number to see if any info comes up on it?

You can have fun with them. Say you are open and you are located in XXXX, Texas (pick a way out of the way place that no one from the UK would move to, like Wink Texas or Snyder Texas)

When will we as photographers get off our ego trip and understand there are millions of photographers worldwide that are as good if not better than we are. Anytime over the last 4o plus years I have been a working photographer that someone offers me a job like this “I found you ______” my first questions is why did you pick us. I know if someone wants a real professional and have money to spend they will do more research than just offering jobs on emails. Yes I am lucky enough to have a client base and may not be needing or wanting to book every thing that comes along, but even when I started off I learned really fast that if you believe all the hype you will fall for everything. By falling for everything you will soon spend all of your time and money chasing pipe dreams.
Just saying,
Wayne

It's a nice phishing scam for both your e-mail and postal address.

You were right to sniff for fish, Betty, but actually, the email you got is better than some of the fishing efforts I've seen lately. And you'd be shocked at who falls victim.

I regularly get lines cast from various Asian locales (usually S. Korea, Malaysia, or Hong Kong) where a CFO (or jilted lover) has a huge judgment debt (or ridiculously large divorce case settlement) and needs an attorney "in your jurisdiction." (As if they didn't know for sure which jurisdiction I was licensed in -- you'd think that's a clue.) Ironically, I have quite a few international clients, including several Chinese and Vietnamese clients, so when I got the first one of these several years ago, I recognized it as a fishing expedition (it was just too poorly written to be believed) I thought the fisher had somehow tapped into the fact that so many of my emails go to Asian folks.

Turns out, I was giving them too much credit. But even worse, I now learn that the reason I get so many of these every week is because everybody in the Texas bar gets them. The reason they send so many to Texas lawyers? Because an embarrassing number of my colleagues are gullible enough to fall for it to make it profitable.

So congratulations for being smarter (and more legally astute) than a pretty good percentage of Texas lawyers!
