Do you use a DVD Printer? - 11-09-2010, 11:35 AM

I am thinking about buying one CD/DVD Printer so I can send my wedding photos to clients. I like the fact that you can print professional looking DVDs with these printers.

I am thinking about one of these:
Primera Bravo SE Auto-Printer for CD and DVD Discs in Portable Computer Printers at JR.com

THE QUESTION: Does anybody here have one? Do you like it? Which one do you recommend? Was it worth buying it?

The reason I am asking because it is not cheap. It costs around $1000.

You can print professional looking CD's for less than this. Most home printer have the ability to print to a CD. I have a Epson Phoyo R200 printer on my desk that will print straight to a printable CD bought from Sam's Club. I paid less than $100.00 for that printer 4 years ago.
Not all are as good as others have a new Hp that's not as good as the Epson mostly because of software issue's.
The printer you link to is proably very nice and good for making a lot of cds at once with the same design.

I agree with Mark. The one you linked is probably good for doing larger amounts of CD/DVD's. You could use an Epson and get great quality for much less $$$.
Something like this: Amazon.com: Epson Artisan 50 Color Inkjet Printer (C11CA45201): Electronics

I have an older version of the Primera CD printer burner combo and it does a good job. We use it to mass produce CD that we sell with software on it. I would NOT get it for one at a time CD/DVD's for photography. Too costly an option. We burn 25 to 50 at a time for shipment and can walk away for a couple of hours and come back to a stack of finished CD's. I assume you would only be burning 1 or 2 at a time of a given CD?

I have the HP DVD Label Printer and its great for a few hundred bucks to create 1 or 2 dvds for clients.

If you need large orders, there are always the CD/DVD duplicator companies that would do it for less than you can buy supplies.

That's how I do it.

At home I use the HP C5580 all in one. Works fine.

At work we used the Primeras. We had two models that worked well for mass labeling - 25+ of the same label.

We are now using Disc Painter at all our PhotoShop stations for the ocassional labeling. The biggest draw back to these is the $35. tri-color cartridge. We use a lot of blue in our shop labels so ink becomes and issue. They are not the fastest printer but speed is reasonable.
