"Colorizing" my camera room. - 01-13-2011, 01:11 PM

I understand why all light modifiers are suppose to be black, but I decided to kick it up a bit and I painted some old metal and plastic reflectors with bright colors.

In the test (image) I did not add any background light to see if any color was being reflected onto the background. It is difficult to see on this image, but no color is being reflected on the subject either.

Things change, ideas change, and since I photograph a lot of young people, I believe they will identify with the new color scheme. Of course my 2 fabric umbrella fill lights and all fabric soft boxes will still be black.

The parabolic on the left is about 60 years old, and is from an old set of Photogenic lights. Originally it was silver/gray. The square on the right is about 25 years old... a Novatron plastic softbox and came in white.

Any camera room is going to have a mixture of colors, backgrounds, walls, props ETC. It don't matter to me......
