Okay, that seems like an easy fix. I will let her know. I was wondering that myself. That is why I wanted to post! Looks good to me, but then, what do I know?
Other than that how does it look?
Thanks again Mark. | | | |

IMHO it's wrong in too many ways to list.
Do a little research about what goes into the process. You should develop some type of design brief. Writing A Successful Design Brief
BTW a good designer shouldn't just hand you a logo without giving you options for that logo. Options that cover a wide range of usage challenges. Color, gray-scale, line art, reversed out of a dark bg, reproduction on a busy bg, reproduction etched on glass, etc, etc. Perhaps even variations covering both horizontal and vertical applications. Even use of just the mark vs the entire mark and type. Branding is not cheap. Hope this information is helpful.

Ditto to that response. You shouldn't have more than 2 fonts on your logo, not to mention really wordy. If you wanted her to go with just the wording, "Pamela Powell Photography", then the typography needs to be strong. /slight designer talk
It's really tough to think of what you want in your own brand, and even harder to execute it. Catchy "slogan", though

Thanks everyone. I will admit that I added the tag line to the logo. That was the one that I was most in love with.
Here's another that I'm not as found of with some of the colors I chose...

On your big P, have them cut out the tail inside the major top D of the P, it is distracting and looks sloppy there.
The other tails with the dashy-dotty ends should be solidified, the break up there also looks sloppy with the rest of the logo being so smooth.

Pam,
First of it needs to represent your brand..I dont see a "brand" here at all...
another thing how will this look blown up, small, black and white printed on letterhead, tshirts on cards etc....
I think its a bit over done, too much going on and the swirl will look messy once its printed...
keep trying a great logo takes time..

What was designed? They are poorly chosen fonts and photoshop stamps. I hope you didn't pay for that.

One says "Your Life, Your Legacy" and the other "fine art photography" I am not sure what you are trying to sell.

Thank you all. These are just ruff drafts, not the final outcomes.
I really love that script font, and asked her to use it. She is normally a web page designer not a logo designer, but she said she would give it a go for me, she has done a few logos that I thought were pretty good. Her web pages are wonderful, and we are bartering, so I was hoping that she could pull it off for me.
Kimberley, you said something about defining a brand. I am still working on that, and perhaps that is why there is a disconnect. If you have any tips on getting it defined, please feel free to share! :)

Was hoping that seeing it, might lead to feeling it. Working on my positioning statement and marketing statement and statement of position and I think I am going bananas...
So I will take all the help I can get!

keep trying a great logo takes time..
| ...but that time needs to take place up front between you and your designer before anything is visually developed. Like a good photographer, if a "pro" GD is given proper input they should have the talent to nail the assignment the first time. A good photographer shouldn't have to re-shoot an assignment several times.
I'd keep your existing until you can define your brand and develop a design brief.

I'd like to keep my existing logo, but I am changing my biz name to better suit my identity and what I am doing in my work. I want to market more fine art portraits with better quality prints than you can get anywhere else. I have my BFA in art-photography, and want to use that to my advantage and make the most out the art part of the photography as well to create my portraits for people.
If you have any suggestions for a great designer who can work with me, better suited to me, etc, please let me know. I'd love recommendations.
Thanks again everyone. :) | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
