How do you deliver work? - 02-12-2011, 03:48 PM

Is each print, up to 8x10, delivered in an individual folder, or do you put all of your order in black boxes?

Larger prints, 11x14, 16x20.. in what is called a "photo case", or delivery bag, or.....??????
(if the customer cannot be sold a frame.)

Larger than that?

I didn't ask about wallets, because I figure most use wallet boxes of some type, but if you have any other thoughts, I would appreciate hearing about them.

Thanks

BenE, All of my portraits are printed at Millers, protective sprayed, slightly textured and mounted on a nice bevel board with either a gold or silver trim. I then wrap them in nice tissue paper and put them in a presentation box, then of course a bag to carry them home in. Wallets, I usually use a Wallet Box or a Wallet Folder. The more pennies you add to your presentation the more your allow to charge for your work.

Thanks for the reply. For my high school senior photography, I use individual folders. However, everything larger than 8x10 is mounted, and delivered in a black box, or one of the photo cases. They can upgrade to mounted portraits on the smaller sizes.

All my work is also textured, except for wallets.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't as much interested in a supplier as I was in how some of you preferred to deliver your work. I have a couple of suppliers that I have used for years.

Thanks again .. since no one else has had much to say, maybe packaging is not too important. Just put the print in a sack and send it on its way.

Well, if I can I usually hand-deliver the portraits and hang around (if allowed to) to see them unwrap. The clients expressions are just priceless.

And yes packaging adds to the awesome client experience. To disregard it is foolish =)

Since I don't have my own biz or provide prints yet...all I can say is the experience I had when buying professional prints. They were all in tissue paper and nice colored boxes complimenting their biz or logo colors....I think mine were a mix of green and black and in a nice custom bag with the same colors and their logo or name on it. They even went to the trouble of stuffing tissue paper in the top like a gift bag and there was ribbon tying together something, I forget what.

It's what I would expect when I spent close to 900 dollars, however, none of it made up for their poor customer service and the fact that half my prints were 3 months past due. I would have taken them in plain individual folders and been more satisfied had the woman running the place not been a complete B#&ch, I didn't get my cd of images as promised with my package, my phone calls were ignored, questions disregarded, and when they did finally admit to the mistake and promised to send the remaining items...yep, I never got them to this day. My pics were promised within a certain time frame and were 3 months late and the order was wrong and missing pics so those had to be re-ordered. What's worse is each female owner complained and put it off as the other female owner's fault.

Dress it up in fancy packaging but if the customer service is terrible, I will never go back and I bad mouth them every chance they get!

All very informative. I did get a good idea about the packaging, and your thoughts as a client.

Too bad about the other problems. That was informative also, and understandably what you will remember and judge them by.

Thanks for the detailed description of the packaging.
