I have used Jeff Lane to review contracts and more. Jeff is also a TPF member.

Whats the hourly charge? or is it per document?

I know our company lawyer reviews contracts for employee's who have non-company related business for reasonable price, but need to know more info before I can ask him for a price.

Is it between your business and a "consumer"
or
Is it between your business and another "business"?

I do not know anything about the specific kit Thomas sent a link for.

(family friend/attorney told me) If you're strapped for cash, then contact the The Houston Bar Association which gives free legal advice and also has a pro bono program. You can also contact a local law school, I know U of H law school has a clinic that will help you out, professors oversee everything. I wouldn't risk the headache of something going wrong with the legal kits sold all over the internet.

or Pay the $100-1000 now and save the headache...can't be that expensive.

My work attorney would charge me $150 for a standard service K between me and an individual, and between me and a business, starting at $150, depending on what its for.

My attorney recently went out on his own from one of the Big Firms downtown and specializes in corporate litigation. I wrote my own contract based on various things I have seen/read and he fixed the issues. He's a good guy. :)

The photographer kit that Tom posted is from John Mireles, he's renowned as one of the goto guys for event photography contracts and legalese. Save yourself the trouble and just buy his templates.

No matter what state you do business in? One size fits all? Not.

I didn't say for all states, the OP asked for Texas and I'm pretty sure everything on that kit is applicable to Texas. Have you even read its contents?

Of course, I may be wrong because I'm not a lawyer.

No, I haven't. Unless it says it is wrtten according to Texas law, it would imply it's good anywhere. And, we know photographers are about contracts, as peeps who buy their first digicam and biz cards are about being a professional photographer.

Contract law is state specific. What works here may not be worth the paper it's written on in another state. Whether Legal Zoom, or any other kit, one needs to get legal counsel as to its applicability for them. Opening a kit may well be opening a can of unfriendly legal worms.

I sell lawyers & believe me when I say... Lawyers are like Doctors, you really don't want your podiatrist in charge of your heart surgery. It's best to have someone that specializes in the particular area of law that you need. Even contract law has different areas of expertise.

I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.
