Paypal order forms - 02-20-2011, 11:32 PM

I am looking for a way to sell digital files from my website through paypal. I have smug pro but they do not allow a replacement delay or a minimum order and you have to upload the full size file to sell full size files which is ridiculously stupid.

I want to put a link in the gallery description that goes to to my form (preferably code on my website but external forms are fine) that has a place for them to enter filenames and then calculate the totals based on how many they order and then send them to paypal to pay. Then I get an email with the filenames they want.

sounds simple enough anyone have anything like this!

The template i started with to make my website had that feature built in, I used portfoliositez.com
It's been great so far, my clients have found it easy to use and I can see file names and thumbnails of images ordered.

Strange, I never have a problem with delaying processing for prints or with uploading whatever size file I choose to and replacing it if it doesn't support the item ordered. Smugmug pro is very handy for this. Almost too handy. You can even go in an adjust the crop your client has chosen. Some clients want that, others don't.

If you are referring to digital files only, why would you wait to upload the file size you want to sell until it's ordered? You like chasing orders when you don't have to?

Ken, you may want to look into photoreflect instead of smugmug. it's really designed so you can put thousands of shots up quickly, and their system prompts you to upload ordered hi-res files when they are ordered.

It's worked pretty well for me, and I like how it allows me to easily organize the race shots I take.

http://photo.mohflo.com is my site. It's nothing flashy or pretty, but it seems to get the job done, which is 3 clicks to get to your pictures.

the manual process you described for order flow is automated with the photoreflect software, so you literally get an order notice in your email, fire up their software, hit the 'print order' button, and it handles uploading the originals and sending an email to the client stating their digital download is ready.

Hey Ken,

I have used a service called Pulley (Pulley - Sell downloads, digital products, music, video, art, photography, fonts, eBooks, software) to sell digital files before and highly recommend them due to the simplicity and ease of use. Check them out. Hope that was helpful.

Best of luck.

It might help if you tell us the amount of shots you want to put up. If it's low volume, there is no big deal with putting all your large files up, but if your doing a sporting event with thousands of shots, it's not practical to put the large files up on the website (takes a day or 2 to upload everything, and you have to pay for the storage as well).

We can have over 30,000 files to upload at one time, I ended up just putting a paypal button on my smugmug descriptions and will see how that goes.

thanks to all your replies.

I think the most I have done at one time was 7000. took about an hour to update the site through photoreflect. and that was divided into about 140 different folders.
