How do you promote a Blog???

I recently started a blog, posted it in the wildlife section (HooperPhotography) and am wondering, how do I promote it? I want it to show up in google, yahoo, etc? Does anyone have any suggestions? I am wanting to get enough daily hits to make my blog stand out. I know this is a hard question to answer but I think if I can get this figured out I could eventually make something of this!!!

In the titles of your blog entries, use the words that you want your blog to be found with.

So if you want to be found for "Snowy Sunset", then that should be the title of the blog, not "check out this cool pic!"

Blog every day.

Get your blog linked to from other blogs or websites - especially long-standing and high-traffic websites.

Facebook! Twitter! folks love to click on links. The average person on Facebook has 300 friends. If you have a cool blog and others share it you will have more traffic. 1/3 of my blog traffic come from Facebook. When I post photos from sessions my traffic goes through the roof. I've had my traffic quadruple on days I post newborn sessions because mom shares the link with family who then also share the link. Social Networking is the best (and FREE) way to get yourself out there in my opinion!

Getting a blog traffic is just like getting a web site traffic. It is all about the words you use, links etc.
Google is your friend. A good place to start is Google Groups, submit your site in appropriate groups. Be sure to signup with a backup email or you will get onto every spammers database! Don't SPAM -- only submit a write up of your site once to any given group.

Use social networking sites like Twitter, facebook, YouTube, Plaxo, Linkedin and others to get the word out.
