Preschool graduation pictures! - 03-21-2011, 10:06 PM

Greetings

I was approach and asked to take preschool graduation pictures which I think is great! But I've never taken graduation pictures before and don't know where to begin.!! The pricing (if the school should pay me plus the parents for packet prices) And if so how much should I ask for since I've never done it before. Do I need to have a contract with the school?
Any information would be great!

Thank you!
Danielle

If all the parents have cameras expect no sales. Consider asking the school to hire you to shoot the event with you delivering digital images to the school to do with as they see fit. You would be under contract with them. However, I suspect they won't want to spend the $$$ for this. I was given the opportunity to shoot pics at a Wade College graduation. I shot the ceremony, candids and formals with people filling out forms before their formal sitting, so they had to at least indicate some degree of interest before I shot them. The images turned out very well. The feedback from the school was very positive. Everyone loved the proofs, I felt my pricing was reasonable. I got no sales.

Of course YMMV.

Thanks Texkam! I have plans on calling them tomorrow for further details. I do agree with you on if the parents have camera's the will not pay or purchase pictures. So if I decide to do the shoot, would it be best to charge the school an hourly rate or a flat rate? I just want to make sure I get paid at least for my time if all other plans fells!

Thanks again!

I'd go with flat and a contract for them to sign.

So, let us see some of your work. : )
