Clothing for customers (men) to use? - 03-22-2011, 02:53 PM

I have been thinking about keeping a couple of sport coats for men to wear, because lately it seems men either ware the wrong color, pattern or size. Today, I had a first. A man wore in a very nice sport coat; I commented on the style, and the fabric, which was extremely fine. Even though I didn't say it, I thought the pattern, and color combined with the tie was not the best.

Then he said, he was just "using" it for the portrait, and would be returning it. He said it was a $550 coat, and he was not going to pay that much for something to actually wear.

That is when I noticed the tag on the sleeve, and sure enough the price on sale, was $550. So, I am thinking some plain dark gray coats might we good to have in these cases. ..............Of course nothing nearly that expensive.....

I am even thinking about getting a few nice stylish blouses for women.

Any thoughts? Does anyone keep any clothing on hand for customers to use?

....... ......................
My first job was manager of a mens' department in a clothing store. I never figured out why men think because their chest is 44, that they should buy a 44 coat, when their tummy measures 55 inches.

I keep a variety of clothes for women, but nothing for me. Garage Sales and GoodWill are a great place to pick things up, at an afforadable price.
I say go for it. I would say 3/4 of my shoots they are wearing clothing from the studio. Dont forget a clamp in the back will make a little too big jacket fit

I just sent a couple of 42 Long suits and sports coats to Goodwill over the holidays. Including a nice navy blue double breasted.

As for the guy who would not pay $550 for a jacket, it probably shows.

A few years ago the company I work for had a photo session for store managment to have our work photo's taken. There were a couple of guys that showed up wearing jackets that they had left the tags on. I only hope they all didn't "buy" them at the same store.

Thanks for the ideas. I guess this weekend I will spend some time at garage sales. Never can tell, I also might find a hidden treasure ... like some Ansel Adams negatives.
