Need to get a DBA from your county court, then I would get a TAX ID # for your sales tax and then you can open a business bank account.....

good luck!

Angel is right. Find your County Clerk, they will usually have the Doing Business As forms (called DBA) you need to fill out and file. Once that is done and you have a certified copy of the filed form you can contact the state Comptroller and get your sales tax certificate. Once you have that, then you can go down and open a business checking account. Then find a good insurance agent and get some business insurance (IE liability).

You can also see if there is a Small Business Administration office near you and contact them for assistance in opening your business.

This is just what I recently did. FYI, you can turn in all the (non-bank) paperwork through mail and avoid a trip to the courthouse if you want. Get the forms notarized at the bank while you are opening your account :)

Is an assumed name form the same as a DBA?

Be sure to keep copies of your DBA. It has been a while since I opened a new bank account, but I think they ask for a copy. Anyway, copies are always good to have on hand.
