You Tube marketing? - 04-13-2011, 01:37 PM

Is anyone using a You Tube video for marketing their studio?

If anyone is, and could post a link I would appreciate it.

I've just barely scratched the surface... no real results to report.

I just created my first You Tube slide show. About 2 minutes long. I will probably change it, and am not happy with the music.

This should have been done a long time ago.

Interesting... I'd never contemplated this.

What's the... Method? Or how do you implement this.

I'm using Animoto .. dirt simple to use and includes access to royalty free music.

There are a lot of programs that create slide shows, and I think You Tube has some links to free ones.

I used ProShow Gold, and I use .mwv format.

You Tube will accept different formats and ProShow Gold will make shows in different ones. I am not sure which format is best. The best resolution for me was Standard TV (4:3) and 640x480 px.

After you open an account with You Tube, there are instructions on how to upload.

After the account is open, they send a confirmation code to your cell phone, and a link to your email.

Sorry, I should have been more specific, but I wasn't sure how to ask it.
Whats the purpose, or how does this fit into your marketing strategy?
Do you embed videos on your website/facebook page?
DO you hope people find your stuff as they browse along youtube?
Do you offer these videos beside your images on flickr?
Just curious the methods.

Granted yall are more advanced than I am in the business side for sure.

Oh,, Thanks for clarifying.

The video I have is about 25 megs. I plan to have more, and it costs nothing. I am not sure how much bandwidth I am allowed on my own server, but it uses none, since it is on You tube.

The link can be placed on my own website, and prospective customers can see them all if they wish or just the ones they ate interested in.

What I am thinking of, also is to create a slideshow of one session, which will give an insight to what the senior can expect... poses, backdrops, locations, etc.

At this point, I do not have a digital video camera, but am thinking that might come later.

Here is a good example of how Fuzzy Duenkel uses you Tube.

YouTube - Seniors in 2010 by Fuzzy Duenkel

Notice he has 25 videos, and this particular one has 863 views.

Fuzzy is a genius, great photographer. I do believe the videos are a bit long. This one is 7 minutes. I believe around 3 minutes is long enough.

..............

Google has started to include video results on any search (since they now own YouTube, integration was inevitable)... so if your videos are tagged properly, you can get high ranking results on your search terms because you have a video.

Yes.
Yes.
I don't use flickr for marketing... although I probably should... I offer a version of their slide show on DVD for purchase.. or its free when they reach a certain purchase point from their session. I invite them to share the small version all over their facebook and other pages.

In the end, its just one more way to get noticed.

And it is FREE. What a deal.

I had tried to put a slideshow on my own web site, but it was to small, and if I made it larger it was (of course) a huge file. I think some of the ones I will have on You Tube will be 50 megs or more, and if I have 4, that is a lot of bandwidth not being used on my server.

I thought there would be many more who are using You tube. So far, just Brad seems to be using it.
The link below is to my 2nd slide show. The show gives a sampling of one session with a high school girl. I will most likely change it, but I am still learning how to use the software and You Tube.

Hello. I am a new member and thought I would offer some insight on Youtube marketing.

The Internet has created a whole new world of marketing opportunities for businesses and videographers alike. Though these opportunities exist, many businesses are not using videos to their full potential. So, you created an excellent promotional video and uploaded it to Youtube. Sounds great right? Probably not. Youtube may be a good source of entertainment but they are not ideal for local marketing purposes. Here's why:
  • Is Youtube the first places customers will search or find your products or services?
  • Youtube caters to a general audience which allows for any and everything.
  • They do not target local markets.
  • Use local directories, city guides, blogs and other targeted venues. Your video will get much more views.
  • If you are familiar with SEO, use Google's keyword tool to help you find titles for your videos. This will help get them indexed.
  • Try to include the keyword in your videos url
  • A well keyword optimized summary along with your video will increase your video chances of getting indexed
I have personally used local websites and directories to promote my videos and they have outperformed their Youtube and Vimeo counterparts. Many of my videos have been indexed by Google and actually shows up on the first page, and they are not even on Youtube.

This is based on marketing for local businesses and there are exceptions. As well as being a videographer I am also an SEO specialist and webmaster. Hope this helps.
