so got a tax ID and not sure I understand the file quarterly thing. I thought it was file once a year?

Not sure if this helps but I found this on the IRS website.
Self-Employed Individuals Tax Center

I would hire an accountant or a bookkeeper to help with this sort of thing. I use a bookkeeper for my consulting business and she takes care of all that for me through out the year. At the end of the year we run everything through an accountant to make sure everything is fine. Has worked out for me so far.

You remit your sales tax to the State of Texas (if you do business in Texas). The IRS has nothing to do with sales tax.

The remission is quarterly until such time that the State Comptroller decides you do too much business to file quarterly. Then you receive a letter stating that you need to file monthly.
