Business Card Critique - 05-31-2007, 09:04 PM

Designing a new/simple business card. What do you think? It will mainly be used to pass out at night clubs for people to find their photos.. hence one side my website and the other the promotional website. Does the faded picture work? Thinking of adding my number somewhere too.. or not.

Personally? I like the second one better. Then again, i'm a very square person and it's a very square card :P That, and I have black business cards which I love! Get 'em in gloss!

I dont recommend the gradient on the website-side. Gradients like that do not print well. The "infusion" side looks pretty good. Go easy on the font effects on the website-side.

one thing i learned when making cards was that have glossy on both sides looked really nice but functionality was lost a little.

when i mean functionality i mean having the ability to write on a business card is completely lost when having a black background and/or a glossy finish.

i print mine now with a regular matte background on the back so that i can write certain info down for people im handing the cards to or jotting down info from perspective clients so that i dont have to rely on them to contact me.

just a thought... your mileage may vary.. hehe

ill work on it some more over the weekend. maybe i'll do white and black, both matte (no more gradient). i've printed glossy on both sides (black) before and i also noticed they smear easily. they do look nice when you hand them out for the first time. and i think glossy is slightly thicker inside a wallet.

decisions, decisions :)

i agree with the masses, the second side by far is my favorite. ill second abel on the functionality portion, i went with a one sided card and i've already used the back side to write special info on regarding the client's needs. just a thought.

what do you guys think about this design for the first side?

i might stick with glossy on both sides for this specific card, since im only passing it out at clubs for people to find their pictures online. i dont think i'll be carrying a pen around hehe..

I recommend you reconsider your font choice for the website address. Grundge fonts are supposed to look unintentional, like ink has leak out of an old stamp. When you put "www" together with a grunge font, you end up with a strange repetition that does not settle well visually.

i'll try some other fonts. i was going for the typewriter look, but some were way too hard to read.
