Question Business Card C/C...beating the dead horse - 01-27-2008, 06:49 PM

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse, but I either have too much time to think or I'm just not 100% sure about my last attempt at the business card/logo. I decided to go back to my original roots.

A little background info...

Back in ~2000 I started my website "TheBackcountry.org" so I could showcase my backpacking adventures and photos. My good friend (backpacker/photographer/Graphic Designer) made my first logo for the website:

Anyway, when I got the photography bug I "needed" a new website/name, but I really didn't want to get another domain, especially since I was really going to sell my work. I decided on "Images in the Backcountry" and made a new logo. After a while I decided to start selling my work. I needed a business card and I just printed out a few cheap (printer type) cards. I was never satisfied with the logo/card.

Now, I think I'm happy with the "new look", so I'd like some feedback especially on the.
  • Colors? Should I use the different colors?
  • Is it "balanced"?
  • Should I use "Nature Photographer" or not?
  • Use "WWW" or not?

I like it...

one thing I would mention design wise is to make the cross and the bullet point at the bottom the same color as the sun in the other portion of the card. kinda keep that same color scheme throughout the card.

Another would be how the address is written... Maybe try TheBackCountry.org I think having it setup so that only the first letter is capitalized makes it much easier to read at a glance..

just my $0.02 hehe...

I still love the original logo... one of the best i have ever seen.

I was going to use the "www.theBackcountry", but at the last minute I changed it. I will probably go back to the "www.theBackcountry.org". It's easier to read and people still like the "www" thing.

I will change the bullets to the sun color, but using the cross in a darker shade is too overpowering, IMO.

EDIT: I just changed the colors only...

I'm no graphic designer, but I like the card.

Are you talking about the one that you did a few months ago?

While I like the secondary element (cross) I'm thinking it may overpower the first element (logo). It was the same problem I felt on your orginal design.. That's why I didn't use the secondary element. I still like the font (Franciscan), but maybe not all caps?

Here's two ideas...
