Art Assistant/Associate Professor - Photo/Digital - Tenure-Track - 01-10-2006, 07:51 PM

Hello everybody,
I found an other position at the University of Houston.

If you are interested here is the information.

Talk to you all later.

Alberto

ART
Assistant/Associate Professor - Photo/Digital - Tenure-Track
Description:
The Art School of the University of Houston invites applicants for a tenure track position in our Photography/Digital Media area beginning in the fall of 2006.

This position comes at an exciting time for School of Art, as it transitions to an interdisciplinary graduate program and redefines its curriculum. Applicants should have a thorough knowledge of Digital Photography, Video Art, Multimedia, and Interdisciplinary Arts and the ability to teach a wide range of processes to students of all levels.

Candidates should have a strong conceptual, historical and methodological grasp of issues in the intersecting worlds of art and technology. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to the integration of photography and digital technology with the other disciplines in the Art School, as well as provide intellectual leadership and vision in the development and coordination of a vibrant interdisciplinary graduate program.

An MFA in photography, digital photography, digital media, videography/media production, or related field as well as two years teaching experience required. Candidates must have a substantial record of accomplishment in the field, demonstrated by gallery and museum exhibition, or other appropriate events. Experience in collaborative artwork with diverse artists from different disciplines (music, performance, writing, sculpture,) is strongly preferred, as the School of Art is a member of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, an endowed foundation that encourages and supports interdisciplinary events and curriculum.

Academic rank may be negotiated based on experience.

Specific competencies include a thorough knowledge of digital media hardware and software, including cameras and sound/video equipment, as well as computer programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia, FinalCut Pro, After Effects, and DVD Studio Pro (Macintosh platform).

Hi Clint

The requirements are not set on stone or maybe set in stone.. If I were you, I would apply. Then see if you make the cut. They always hire the best person for the job. So what if the best person does not have a masters degree but is the best person for the job. You can always get a Master degree while working at the university. When they look at the resumes they look at everything. All they can say is thanks for applying. So get your stuff in order and apply. You may just get the job.

Talk to you later.

Alberto
