sold - I just ordered one - thanks for the info - I tell all my clients I would prefer check but can take cc through paypal - most give me checks - now I can take a cc on the spot which is great... 3.5% if you type the cc in - 2.5 if you swipe... it what the site is currently saying... I think this is the cost of doing business... money spent is money forgotten - so anyway to get the client invested works for me...

If anyone has a quickbooks account they are slightly cheaper on swiped cards than square, square is cheaper on keyed (or vice versa) but with qb if you send an invoice and they pay online the charge is only .50, no percentage charges!

I have gotten completely set up with square - there is a section (on the iphone) of sales history. I will be following up with all of my clients with an invoice from quickbooks as this will have remaining amount due. I think this is a great tool for those of us without studios. Perfect for on the go and client consultations in the home.

do any of you harvest the customer's email addresses for your mailing list?

BTW, it's legal to offer a discount for cash, but illegal to add a surcharge for using a credit card.

I was on San Antonio's River Walk this weekend during an art fair. Quite a few of the merchants were using Square.
