How to put a LIKE button on FB? - 10-12-2011, 09:32 PM

I'm trying to get more traffic on my business FB page and noticed under the "resources" tab you can choose "social plugins" and add a LIKE button to the top of it but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it.

When I read all the instructions, you have to put in the URL that you want the LIKE button on and I put in my business FB page. Then it gives me a few other options like font, color, etc. and the I click "get code" and up pops another box with what looks like an HTML code that says this:

"Include the JavaScript SDK on your page once, ideally right after the opening <body> tag" followed by the code

Where in the world would I put that on my FB page? Doesn't make sense to me. Then after that it says:

"Place the code for your plugin wherever you want the plugin to appear on your page" followed by another code

I don't see a place where I can actually go in and add/change HTML codes on my FB business page. I know how to do that for my blog.

Can anyone help me please?

Charrie, I "think" that the code is actually for your website, so that it will "like" your FB page, I may be wrong.

Hmm, well that would make more sense so I guess that means the codes would put a LIKE button on my blog which would take people to my FB page? Wish they would put more explanations on how to use FB as your business page. It's all so confusing. Right now if someone wants to "like" my page, they have to search all over it to find the little "like" link on the bottom left side. Trying to make it as easy as possible.

Charrie, you need to add the code to your website.

I have it at the bottom of my website.

they are correct, the code is for your web site/blog to direct people to your FB page.

If you have a personal page, you can invite your friends from that page to like your fan page....

The problem with putting the "Like" button on your website is that it doesn't actually take you to the Facebook page. I prefer to see the page I am liking. For instance on SaifAli's website I can't find a link to his Facebook page at all, just the Like option. Seems it would be best to put both; the Like button and a Facebook link.

True, but I'm still trying to figure out how to put a FB link on my blog and how to get more fans on my business page. So much to learn!

Yes, there is so much to learn! I just realized I didn't have a Facebook link on my profile here until now.

Charrie, if you have a biz page on fb, it is very easy to get and add the code to your blog/ website. I have all of mine interlinked. Go to the admin panel on fb - EDIT PAGE (upper rt)
then click RESOURCES (orange flag). it will show a bunch of options - click SOCIAL PLUG INS and it will give you several options and write the code for you. You just cut and paste it somewhere on your site/ blog. Also, your blog may have social features where it automates it for you. Look for it on your ADMIN PANEL on your blog.
