I just got back from the PPA Expo and let’s say I am a little fired up. I get that way every time I go to the convention and listen to all these guys making mad money. My personal thoughts about these photographers would be a whole other post. I will say this they can do some serious marketing and that is what makes the difference.

I would like to pool together and make a collective effort to further our knowledge on what is selling and how we are presenting the package.

It seems that the biggest selling point is something new. You have to offer something that others are not offering. Like we all don’t know that we need to have something new to offer the client. Something else I noticed that most every photographer that makes a lot will offer an album with a 100 images as a base package and will not give the client a proof album to keep. They charge a higher price for the wedding because you’re getting an album and it’s justified but then you up sell the client because they want other images in the album that you created and it’s ready to go the client just has to ok it. All this can be done over the net with Adobe pfd files of the album.

I have noticed that more and more couples want to have the files and if you don’t include the files then your calls are going down. And if you do include the files your calls are staying the same.

Any trends or thoughts from what you have seen or noticed in the last year from your weddings?
