Hey all.. I've had a request for usage of a stock image that will be in a PDF publication on a government website... any ideas how I should go about pricing such a thing? I thought about using a standard pricing based on editorial usage, less than 10K circulation, but I'm not sure that's appropriate in this situation.

What type of PDF will it go in? Will it be a permanent PDF or will it come down after a while?
Thanks,
Russell

A couple of more questions and we can nail it:
How big will it run?
Is it for a governmental ad or simple an illustration?

I don't know if this will help, but I came across it today and thought it might be of interest. Don't know how accurate it is. http://photographersindex.com/stockprice.htm | | | |

Russell .. as a pdf available on the website.. inside photo, not cover.. available for download, so essentially a run limited only by demand.. but could be available as a download for years.
bbailey: I based my quote in part on that site.. but since it didn't have entries for this exact kind of usage, I thought I'd query the group here for next time...
I know, I just need to break down and buy photoquote (or whatever it is called).

According to Fotoquote on a 5 year, 1/4 page educational usage, the prices are:
High: $1595
Low: $797
Average: $1063
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Russell

Thanks, Russell.. like I said, I need to break down and buy fotoquote one of these days.
Sounds like I lowballed it a little (no, I'm not sharing what I quoted them, but it was a bit lower than the "low" number).
