Anyone sell at shows & festivals? - 02-07-2006, 09:35 AM

I've been wanting to start selling some of my photos and sculptures at festivals and fine art shows which seem to pop up without warning... do any of you know how to find out about upcoming events and how to get a space?

a co-worker/fellow photog/friend of mine's parents do art walk on the strand that is held one weekend a month. they print matte and frame a few images and sell them at $100 a piece and we made a bet with them that we could set up and sell more pieces.

its march 4th on the strand in the evening.

ill let you know how it goes haha.

I'd imagine a show on the strand would be pretty lucrative if it's not too expensive... a bit far for a beginner in Austin testing the waters though... I'll work up to that . There must be some sort of organization or list of such events; when I visit those in my area I see many of the same vendors, so how do they find out ahead of time, and know who to contact???

try calling the chambers of some small towns around austin. IE hutto, tayler, pflugerville and they can tell you all about how to get a table at their yearly festival.

price isnt too bad, normaly 50-100.

There's the monthly I think 'art on sixth' thing near Mother Eagans. Might be worth trying.

Some suggestions on how to set up

Depends a lot on the types of pictures you are looking to sell, what venues might make sense.
