Brochure example ???? does this look good - 02-08-2006, 04:31 PM

Okay so 4 months ago i decided our studio needed a new brochure, but i didn't know what i was getting myself into then. Now i have a better idea how to create a "EYE friendly" brochure....i need ya'll critiques though,
The following image is a lay out of how it would look if u were lay it flat out on it's back.

does it look professional?
does it lead u to question what we do hehe?
any comments would help out greatly...and i will show everyone the inside section soon.

p.s. the photos might change..i needed something to give me a sense of balence for now...
but still no comments?? :O

I'm not the most experienced at this so probably shouldn't comment but... you spelled "our" as "out" near the bottom. And something about the pics doesn't seem right although when the brochure is folded, that may change the perspective. Also, "where our clients come first, not the sale" makes sense but doesn't really convey what you want to say (I don't think)... Good worthy slogan but not consumer friendly in other words because it implies that other shops may not treat the customer right. While they may in fact not... it's not nice to bang on the competition and makes a customer wary of what YOU may try to pass off on them instead.. I'm just commenting from the consumer view, not the photographer's or business view..
Sorry, but you asked for opinions...

I've been looking to create a brochure for my company as well so I hope you take my critique as such:
I like the layout and the logo design for the first section, but I agree with the above comments about the wording. without seeing the inside which may explain more what I'm reading now, this may not keep my attention on it's own. It does make me question who you are and if that is your intent, you succeeded, but will you have enough info inside to explain?

the logo is tops. Love it.
The pics dont really tell me what you do, to me they do look like portraits. the arm really bothers me. it's a little cut up. I know the tri folds are small but you might want to look at an image that shows almost from behind the camera that your creating a portrait. You might even think about about long ways with a couple extra images. that way it flows more with your logo that is long ways too.

thank you everyone..no that's exactly what i wanted..."needed" it's pretty much anything will fly with my boss...so i have to get my critiques else where....

about the "banging on the compitition" i think ur right...i do carry a grudge from my last employer hehe...so i'll change that promptly.

the pictures are just fill ins...but thanks i knew i wanted to change them..but have limited stock pictures at the house..so i'll find one that better suits the brochure.

So what i'm getting from everyone is the layout is fine...i'm happy cause this would be my frist marketing tool i've created.
thanks for everyone's input i great appreciate it :D

my challenge is to convey how we are so down to earth at the shop...to be continued

something like
There is never a minimum to buy.
caters to the client tailor a custom package to your needs
Not your big box portrait studio we tailor create packages to meet your needs.

stress that your a small studio that does very custom work and you meet the needs of your clients. "creating memoriable memories that last a life time. " I have used that a few times and i think i still do on our site.

just some examples.

One more if I may... after looking at this several more times, I think the child's pic is right on in a way and coveys love and small happy munchkins running hither and yon with that perennial wide eyed childish look. The same look that makes all those wide eyed child birthday and get well cards so popular... sorry, as a guy, I have no clue what they're called but it's a series and has been popular for many years. Anyway, something similar (or even this one) convey the warm fuzzies...
The woman though... that funky pink watch keeps getting my attention instead of her. Maybe a diamonds and pearls, really classy upscale look instead would be better. That way, you hit both ends of the spectrum from young and vibrant to grown/mature and still vibrant...

Oh geeze... sorry to comment again but I have literally seen so much hard work put into extremely poorly designed brochures and pamplets, some of which are downright ugly, that if this helps you even a tiny bit then I'll be satisfied. These kinds of things are the public's first and sometimes only perception of you and/or your talent and it just needs to reach out to the mind and say "HEY YOU...pick me up and read me... this guy is really good at what he does". Oh, and be sure to include a business card in each one too.
