Coffeebook Albums - back cover - 02-09-2006, 10:24 AM

I am about to create my first asuka book

Before I get off on the wrong foot, I would like to get a feel on what other wedding photographers do.

Do you use the back cover to advertise your wedding company? I plan to go with the Book Bound Laminate EX. I was thinking of putting my website address and name, keeping it simple but letting them know who created it. Good idea, bad idea?

If you've done this, mind sharing your page layout?

thanks :)

That's somehting i was trying to convince my boss....our albums say nothing of whom we are. So i was thinking the last page on the inside...but didn't want to ruin the simple design. but i think your idea of "simple" would be timeless and not an eye soar...cause it's going to be there for ever.

I usually put the studio name somewhere - but let the bride/groom know I'll do that in case they have an objection. On the outside cover, I will try to put a photo that "wraps up" the event. Could be them leaving, the back of the car, or something like that.

At the bottom of my first album I have my copyright info, business name, contact number and web addy. I put it dead center at the bottom just to the left of where the bar code goes.

I just deliver my coffeebook album and I didn't print my name or anything so just put my business card at bottom right on first cover using double side tape after asking client.

One more thing...

80 sides seems like an AWFUL lot of PS work
Is your most common size more like 40-60 sides (20-30 pages?)

i don't want to spend my entire existence stuck in front of the computer and taking too long to deliver a product.....

I'm thinking of going with 30 page max....is that size usually well received ?

Figure you're looking at 2-3 images (average) per page - so a 30 page size is about 60-90 photos.

Of course, since you'll be charging "per page", it really shouldn't matter, right? LOL.

Couple of questions here:

1. Name on the book... absolutely need it somewhere. I would think that the average guest that has come over to the happy couple's home.. will look at the album, think its cool, and flip it over to look at the back before every opening it... that's where I will be putting my website and name. The important thing is to keep it simple.

2. Number of pages.. my standard wedding includes a 40 page book.. and I have prices that allow them to add more pages, but I warn them that ordering more pages without ordering more coverage may not do them a lot of good... and that I reserve the right to cut back the number of pages if we don't have enough pictures.

I put company name somewhere on a back cover...not much advertising on wedding books and of cause business card inside of book.

as far as pages 30-60 depending on event and client

I would put it on the last page of the album. Not of the back cover... It's like photographers who sign their prints. Feedback I get from my clients is that they HATE that.

i have a question about asuka pages....I noticed their price sheet is in multiples of 20's ....I can go somewhere in between right, with the max being 80 sides for their largest album...is that right?

Nope...number of pages listed is what you MUST get.
