Insurance? - 06-09-2006, 10:34 PM

Not even sure where to start. Any suggestions? Been shooting a lot of event photography lately and man I'm just waiting for some drunkard to spill there drink all over my camera. Help me out. Would insurance cover accidents like that?

This has been discussed several times. WPPI offers insurance through Hill & Usher and you can get it from them even if you're not a member.

Others have gone and obtained commercial policies from their agents.

If you have a Sam's or Costco membership, they offer insurance as well.....

i have an underwritten policy through my homeowners insurance. no deductible, but they can hold it against you if you file to many claims. they cover anything and everything (stolen, broken, equipment failure) and it was only about $180 for 11 grand of insurance.

That's what I have, and after a lot of research, I'd say it was a pretty good deal.

One thing to consider about insurance is what you want. Most people worry about equipment ony and forget about the liability aspects of it. The Hill & Usher policy includes liability, errors & ommisions coverage, etc.

Here is what I found out when I went looking for insurance. On a homeowners rider if they consider any use of your stuff commercial they will not cover it. What I found out was that State Farm is offering a policy that is all risk and will cover your camera and computer equipment even for a commercial use but only if you are not in the business full time. In my case I was able to buy the policy to cover over 8K worth of stuff for only $140.00. And since photograpy is not my "full time job" there was no problems.
