Comp card? - 07-06-2006, 05:49 PM

Now i have a client that's looking for a comp card for his modeling career.
has anyone ever handled anything like this before
my question is what essentials should be on the card? should i have measurements?
let me know if there is a specific standard to this product.

Here's the deal. I get requests for comp cards often and I used to try and deliver. But I never felt right about it because most people think it's an 'in' to the career and it's so expensive because not many people will do short runs. Now, I explain that people go to agencies to get models. Not off websites or unrepped models going to auditions. Rarely happens. And if he does have a rep, 10 out of 10 times they want input into what photos to use and how to design the card because they know how you will be marketed.

Now sometimes they insist, and as long as everyone has reasonable expectations...here is a general idea. The basic idea is card stock and size varies but 5x7 would be minimum. One photo on front with name and possibly contact. Agency will want their name on there too. On the back, the old standard is 4 shots (all of the same size) with different looks. It was the standard b/c it was easiest to press. Now with computer designing the back can have any look you want.
