Anyone have any thoughts or use the Istockphoto.com to sell stock photos.

I am thinking about trying it but looking for info first.

Well, depending on who you ask it's either an easy way to make some extra cash from your photos, or an evil plot to devalue photography and put hard-working pro's out of business.

You may want to check out the Micropayment Yahoo Group to get some more information. iStockphoto and Fotolio seem to be two of the more popular micro-stock sites.

I joined Istock when it first started about 4-5 years ago and uploaded about 30 or so images (all 3-4 MP).

So far I've been averaging about $100/year just on those original images, and most of that is from 4 or 5 key images.

It's okay, and it would probably help if I uploaded a bunch more, but I think the market there is flooded now. You have people uploading 50 or more images a day.

I have heard good things about Istockphoto, but I agree with Steelsun in that it just gets more saturated there every day. If you have some really specific, strong images, they would probably do really well though.

My other suggestion would be to take a look at OnRequest Images, (www.onrequestimages.com)
