VistaPrint's electronic biz cards - 07-18-2006, 10:48 AM

If you're ever inclined to order cheap biz cards from VistaPrint, you would do well to pass up the option for an electronic version and keep your $2. Simply put, it stinks. At least mine did. I ended up editing it in PS so the font could be read. The original was really pathetic. I hope the printed cards are better.

I ordered cards from VistaPrint a few months ago. They turned out very well - colors were right on. I did, however, use one of their templates, so it would have hard to mess that up.

I used one of their templates too. They'll probably be fine. Thanks.

Well, I got my cards from VP today. Except for the tiny print, they look good. The print size probably has to do with the template I chose. I'm glad I didn't pay a lot for them.

I've used vistaprint a few times, including for business cards... I've found that they're pretty good - better than a lot of what you'll find through trial and error. I definitely suggest that you avoid the generic templates though. Either use a graphic designer or try it yourself, and take advantage of the blank templates with guidelines that are offered.

One of the other places I tried was americasprinter.com - great prices, but horrendous quality and service. Someplace like vistaprint is pretty reputable...

Mike, I will be designing my own next time and letting VP print them for me. There's just no way to judge how they're going to turn out until you get them. If I'd known the text was going to be so small (it's really small), I would have done something different. Other than that, the quality is nice.

I uploaded my own design to VistaPrint and was thrilled with the cards. Only bad part is they delete your template after a month or 2, so if you don't reorder in that timeframe, you have to upload and pay the fee again. It's just a few dollars, though.

I just ordered cards from VistaPrint, too. I haven't received them yet but I'll agree with John that the electronic card is a waste of money. Also, I couldn't figure out how to make the back of the card black. I'm anxious to see how they come out.

I've ordered cards numerous times, postcards and recently just got into printing brochures. I've been very happy with the results.... however, I always design my own, as that's part of what I do (graphic design) and I always request a PDF proof and print it out to verify the bleed is cut off in the right area (without cutting off type) and as a secondary reason I'll use the PDF and integrate it on a form for the client to sign off on (for spelling and composition).

I've had to re-order business cards that I uploaded from over a year ago. I believe they only delete uploaded artwork on material that isn't used as part of an order.

Anyway... I'd have to agree that the electronic business card is a waste :-)

Regards. Rob
