Can you recommend a Dallas printer? - 07-31-2006, 05:22 PM

I used RGB, but found the support/service to be lousy (although when I finally got the prints in the right size, they were nice. Metallics were overexposed by at least half a stop). Good luck speaking to anyone there that knows anything the least bit technical.

Full Color (I accidentally wrote Custom Color before) is better on service, but last time I checked, didn't offer printer profiles (A must as part of my worlflow).

Costco is great (for the price), but their mini labs have a relatively narrow color gamut (you lose a lot of saturated reds, blues, and greens). OK for team photos, but not much else.

I'd prefer to work with someone local, so I can go in and chat with them if and when I need to. If they are in N. Dallas, that's all the better, since I'm in Coppell.

Anyone have somebody they really love that offers ICC profiles for all (or at least most of) their papers/printers?

I've never used them personally, but I've heard BWC off 75 in Richardson does a good job. No idea about the ICC profiles, but you can check em out.

Full Color is good. The owner is awesome.

www.orderpicture.com is who I use, they are based out of addison, they are alright if you sign up with them please use the name smilescaptured, and they are free until you buy prints from them and allow you free online gallery that your customers can buy from that costs you nothing with unlimited storage space and they don't charge anything on the gallery until someone orders something :)

You can see my gallery with them at http://orderpicture.com/index.php3?c...smi_8179919080

sorry the ones that have the lock symbol are passworded and only the client can see, but there a couple on there that you can look at

You know, I said Custom Color in my post, but I meant Full Color. They don't offer printer profiles, so it's impossible to do truly accurate color management.

BWC's main lab is on Maple Street in Dallas. I'm not sure if they offer everything you need but they have been in business for years and offer top notch service. I would try going down there in person and talking to someone.
