Bulk calendar printing? - 08-14-2006, 06:03 PM

I shoot a lot of sports for my local HS, and they have an idea for a calendar to sell to the students/parents. I'd be donating my time for the job.

I am looking for a very reasonable price to buy perhaps hundreds of calendars (all the same), and am wondering who would be good to contact.

The best price I've seen thus far is Costco at $9.99. I suppose the amount of customization I could do on those would be limited.

Anyone else have other ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks Tom. I'd considered them, but haven't checked them out yet.

I'm putting together my first calendar with www.lulu.com. Not sure how their prices compare but someone posted on the board about them having good print quality. HTH

Here is what one of the pages will look like:

I'm going to order one calendar from CafePress as soon as 2007 is out (end of August). From what was said in their forum, they are now printing on higher quality materials -- heavier pages -- than before. Their web site says they use 100 lb glossy paper. They are also switching from the staple binding to ring binding, which some are not happy with. At any rate, you can buy 15 or more at the bulk price of $9.74 each. I am not sure how much shipping is.

The only other merchant mentioned in my recent thread was shutterfly.

Tom,

I did this for our high school baseball team. We printed 750 calendars and used a local printer. We were able to negotiate a price of around $4.00 per calendar. Obviously, the more you print, the cheaper the price. In order to do it this way, I had to design the calendar using a desktop publishing program and have it "print ready." We used this as a fundraiser and sold ads for each month. The ads paid for the printing so every calendar sold was pure profit.

I would suggest that you take a calendar to several printers and get bids. There was a huge range in the bids we received.

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Kim
