Dog Photogs: Job Opportunity - 08-17-2006, 04:35 PM

Hi all,
I spend my daytime hours working as a Senior Designer for one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) packaging graphics design firms in the South. We are currently working on designs for some new dog food bags for one of the major dog food companies. We are looking for someone who has a lot of experience shooting dogs and someone who has all the contacts already for doggy models, doggy trainers, doggy stylists... whatever is needed. We are in Houston but can travel to you. We are early in the design process, too early to give specifics as to style, pose, with/without people, etc... but we will need a few different shots since there will be a few different sku's. And this is a new client, so we are expecting more work from them after this project which could mean more work for you. And the exposure will be huge since they are trying to get in to one of the super mega chain stores. I won't mention who but you can probably guess. So for right now, I just want to know who would be interested in the job. Please PM me your contact info, experience, website, portfolio, etc. Once the client narrows down the designs and we have more concrete info, I can let you know.

Thanks!

I have a lot of experience shooting dogs (pets), but not with contacts, trainers, stylists.... I'd be really interested in doing more, though.

I got the best trainers around and some good stylist. not to forget the make up artist and hair for the human client if need be. I would be very interested in the job. I can show some samples of my work of different dogs doing all types of things.

Trainers I am very good for. Trained police/security/protection/competition dogs for over a decade. Lots of access to working dog "types". We are very active in the dog community and host trials/show/events and have many contacts nationwide.

If you need any help or pointing in the right direction gimme a shout, I will help out all I can :)

Lots of experience training dogs. 10 years experience in obedience teaching and training and 6 years in teaching/training for the field in hunt tests. Still have a lot of contacts. I'd definitely be interested in this.

Yep, that's us. I hadn't replied yet because I don't have dog training experience and contacts. However, I love taking photos of dogs, and I have a little bit of experience with it indoor and outdoor.

I have to agree -- John's dog is extremely photogenic! So was this little guy.

That is a cute shot, I love the expression. I need to try to get some from that vantage point.

John, that first shot is incredible. My dog gets ADD when she sees camera in my hand... no way I could get her into a studio.

cheers!

Thanks Marek!!! - 08-18-2006, 09:00 PM

She is pretty patient, I tell her to sit and stay and she will only move a little. Then I ask her if she wants a treat and the show is on, head goes right up, ears pop up and she cocks her head all different ways. I think it would be awsome to see her on a product box, she would be so cute.

Thanks for the comment.

I have the greatest of admiration for Suzy and those others who regularly photograph dogs and cats. Our four-legged friends don't ever want to stay put for us. But I do have a candidate for your food - our Boston Terrier Lucy, shown here in a rare pose.

That would look killer on a bag of dry food. "I'm Lucy, and I endorse this dog food..."
