Business cards - 08-22-2006, 01:57 PM

I'm pissed! I ordered some business cards from a web site and like an idiot I misspelled PHOTOGRAPHY.

Do you think I should I re-order or just pass these out?

I only ordered 100.

But now I'll have to wait another week for more to come in.

Hard to say. Personally, I would. My business card is a reflection on me. People who know me wouldn't care, but I'm hoping that my cards make into the hands of people who don't know me. I want them to be as perfect as possible.

Definitely re-order.
Not a second thought about it. Throw all but one of those in the trash and tape the one to your monitor, a reminder to always double check before ordering :)

I wouldn't pass out the ones with misspelled words on it. It doesn't shed good light on you at all. Just reorder them and chalk it up as a loss... hey you can at least write it off on your taxes.

OK OK OK. I get the point. I'm glad everyone responded as quick as they did. I really appreciate everyone's input. I'm reordering now.

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

It all depends on how you mis-spelled photography. My company is The Photographers. I had a contest among my clients for a name for our newsletter the winner was a middle school genius Who came up with: The Photo rap

All the letters on the second line were sideways and laying down like they had fallen off.

Sorry that happened! I would throw them out though. It would be kind of embarassing for a photographer to hand out a business card with the word photography spelled wrong.
Good thing you only ordered 100. It could have been a lot worse. :)

I'm about to reorder mine and have decided to go local this time. I'm going to have ONE printed, proof it one last time, and then take the plunge. I went with overnightprints.com last time and one of the colors was significantly OFF. I've used them, but have never been quite satisfied. You want to be proud of your card like you are of your business, not apologizing for it.

Clayton, I used overnightprints.com too. The results were awful. Colors were way off. Now I use vistaprint.com. I like them. If anyone tries them out, make sure to choose the glossy business cards.

I sent out a flyer one time with portraits misspelled...oops! After the first phone call I just told everyone that it was a gimmic.....those who caught the wrong word got a free 8x10 added to thier session. But....how many did I miss out on who didn't call.

I now ALWAYS get someone else to spell/grammer check me.

Ok, I cannot resist. You do mean "grammar" and "gimmick", right? :)

Jessica, I checked out your site and vista. I may go with them for a 1000 or so. Good prices. Have you tried the foil?

I haven't tried the foil. I haven't noticed them. I'll have to look into it.

The goofed order was from Overnightprints. I'll never order from them again. Here's why:
As you all know, I messed up my first order. I re-ordered the same card design with the corrected and triple checked spelling. I opted to have the 3 day deliver with express printing. I need the cards by this weekend. Well the order was processed and I got a tracking number from them. Turns out, I won't get my cards till Monday.

...I'm still pissed.
