Selling photos on dedicated websites - 10-11-2006, 04:10 AM

I'm not a professional photographer, and I do not have a photography business, but I don't know where to ask among the existing topics.
To be short, as an amateur photograph I'm looking for ways to sell my pictures on stock photo websites because I know there's more and more photographers like me to do so.
I wonder if I can put on sale the same photographs on different websites giving I intend to sell them royalty-free, but I also want to have them maximum web exposure.
And eventually, If someone has good advice about what are the more remunerative websites I'd be glad.

Thank you.

Thank you. But all these sites are either simple photo hosting websites or sites where the photographer has to pay something to hosts its pics and possibly sell them.
I was thinking more about sites like shutterstock.com, comstock.com, and more recently, photolicence.com and fotolia.com, for they do not charge for hosting, hosting is unlimited, and photographers can sell their images using them. I'm sure there's some places where I could find a synthesis for all them, but I haven't find it so far.
By the way, as I've written above, I'm still looking for legal informations regarding limitations of royalty free, so please, if someone can help, let me know

I guess a bit of irony in this answer lol - How long did it take you to make those $50 ? If it's over a year or over a week, it's not the same. I read on french photograph forums that some photographers sell a lot of images on fotolia.com, but at a very low price (an average $0.25), and others sell more rarely on photolicence.com, but at a much higher price (between $50 and $90).
About bigstockphoto.com, how many photographs did you upload ? Is your remuneration the result of several sales or only one ? Did you try to sell the same photos on other sites ?

I apologize. I must have misunderstood what you were requesting. I do not have direct experience with all that's listed in the link I forwarded except for dotphoto.com & photoreflect. Neither of those charge to host images unless you upgrade to a different plan. They just charge a % from images ordered on that site.

Good luck with your hunt.

If your question was towards me, I didn't make $50...it's $1.50. Three photo "sales"...
I have, I think, 103 photos uploaded...

if you look at the site, I am DJRobin so you can see what I've uploaded (if you're curious) because I am not a pro (obviously)...I think I am more under the hobby photographer that would love to learn about photography...

I've only done it a couple of months...not long at all...and frankly, most of my uploaded pics were taken with my lil kodak easy share...not the canon that is so difficult for me to figure out! AAAGGHHH

It's my turn to apologize, I also misunderstood. $1.50 !!! three photographs and 103 upload !? You should try a better camera and frankly also, try other sites. If you're a bit gifted and already have a good image library, I think it's an easy way to make money off them. My present problem is to have a 'big picture' of all them but I think you can already register to all of them. I think subscription is free, as well as photo upload.
