Need a good "Free" web hosting site - 11-14-2006, 03:06 PM

Anyone know of a good free web hosting site? It needs to be able to use Flash, have enough free space and email accounts.

Thanks,

One does not exist. You are going to have to pay about $10 a month. Any web host will support flash though. You embed that into your HTML document. It has nothing to do with the server capabilities.

May have found one 5+ years ago that was loaded with their ads but that "dodo" has flown the coop.

I use their cheapest plan that has 5GB of data transfer a month for $3/month. Plus it includes a free domain registration.

I got 3 years of 1and1's professional plan for free. I'm now on their lower end plan, which is still oddles more storage and bandwidth than I need.

They also have a load of built in apps, like gallery, blogs etc.

Some people moan about their support, but I haven't had to use it.

Thanks for the input. I have 1and1.com right now. My 3 years is coming to an end real soon. However, It may be still my best bet.

As I said, I had the 'trial business' rate plan for 3 years. I switched down to their second lowest rate plan (1&1 Home plan) I get more bandwidth and more storage space than on that business trial plan, and the domain registration is included.

Costs about $4.99 per month

Also, I went from not getting around to having any web site to at least putting
something together. I guess paying for it made me get off my butt.

Siteground gives you 40 GB web space and 900 GB traffic/month for $4.95 per month with a two year commitment, domain name registration included. You can auto-install many popular PHP tools such as Gallery, as well as CMS tools. You can also use their easy web site editing tool using a number of pre-built templates. Unlimited e-mail accounts, MySQL databases, subdomains and FTP accounts included as well.

I recently changed host and I get 170 GIG of storage and 2,000 GIG of bandwidth for $10 a month. I have 2 domains sharing this space which is a lot easier to manage than my old host. I put a lot more photos out on my site and I still only have about 500mb used up.

I went with Aplus.net

Find and make friends with someone who already runs their own personal webserver out of their house. LoL. That's how my personal domain is hosted. Nothing beats free!

You may want to look at www.dreamhost.com . There are lots of promotional codes going around like MAX97 which will give you $97 off the first year leaving you $22.40 for the first year. This includes your domain registration.

You might want to try 777 first as I have heard this code still works giving you a discount that will leave you just shy of $10.00 for the first year. This is the plan I have been under for the past year. No I am not getting anything from you signing up. None of these codes are mine and as you can see, I supplied no link.

Just offering another source. Check it out.
