NBA All Star Week

i ran into this guy who's promoting 4 parties at a major club in las vegas for the all star game and he'd like for me to get shots for all 4 nights. My problem is that I don't do much in this area of photographing and so i'm having a hard time trying to figure out what to charge him. Are any of you guys event photogs??? Any help/suggestions? I don't wanna go too low and sell myself short, but I don't wanna go too high and blow a great opportunity to network. There's a very long list of celebrities who will be attending.

i'm going back and forth debating a flat fee for the evening or an hourly fee with a minimum of say 2 hours. Some of you guys and gals know (well I guess all of you who read this will know now) that my brother in law is the QB for the Falcons. I've been trying to work that in as well by being the contact that could get another celebrity to appear at his club. I'm thinkin that would have some leverage to charge the higher price...but I just don't know what that price should be, lol! Any help would be appreciated. first of all, congrats on the potential gig. I had the honor of shooting some parties when the All-Star game was here last year.
My first suggestion would not to mix the two things you are trying to do. I would get a good fee for the photography first and if you can get your BIL then maybe a finders fee for that.
I charged and hourly rate and offered a CD and image uploading, but your terms may be different.....good luck...

I'd go for the flat fee ($1500) and my expenses. Is it in Vegas? Airfare, hotel, ground transportation. If this guy is a Vegas operator, these expenses are more than reasonable.

Yeah its in Vegas. I kinda sold it to him as I'd already be there in vegas that weekend anyway to eliminate him thinkin I'm just lookin for a financial way to get out there...which actually is the case. I'll just be gettin back from the pro bowl and my vacation is ALREADY in the negative. I was merely lookin at it as a way to get into a pretty big venue without payin and have unlimited access thru the club to rub shoulders and network with some stars.
