Which is more appealing - sides or pages? - 12-12-2006, 01:53 PM

In the middle of changing our pricing structure for 2007 and I'm debating on the use of two little words :

sides vs pages

What appeals more to your clients:

The idea of having a 40 page book or a book with 80 sides?
Do they understand the concept of sides to begin with?

I'd like to stick with ONE term throughout and quite honestly, sometimes it confuses ME to have both on the same page so I want to make the right choice.

Aren't pages and sides the same? I have a book with 80 pages, each "side" has a number on it which is sequential. It is confusing because photographers have made it such. I make clear that I explain what a side/page/spread is.

As for me, I advertise "page" - universally understood in the non-photography business!

90% of the time my customers have understood "pages", but I have had a few that were pleasantly "surprised" to find that 20 pages actually was 2 sided pages
I say stick with the pages

Heck, I get confused explaining "sides" sometimes. Pages, definitely.

haha! That's what I"m saying!
The thing is when i've told some of them...oh, you get 60 sides vs 30 pages their eyes get like this because they envision MORE photos in their book!

I go by pages. But the way I say it, one page is equal to what we call one side. So, a 40 side book would be a 40 page book.

I agree with Jesus and Nic, the terms are synomous. Haven't you guys who are counting one page as two sides ever read a book? In the books I read, page 2 is on the back of page 1, and I don't see why it should be any different for a photo album.
