I was wondering if anyone in here does stock photography?

I have been building images over the past year for this purpose and would like some info about companies you all might use, and suggestions. And of course, is it worth the hassle?

I've though about getting with Alamy but with the Micro companies the whole stock business is in a major sea change and may not be worth it.

Here's a very thoughtful essay on the current stock business.

I've been toying with two websites....BigStockPhoto.com and iStockPhoto.com. I've had some success with each, but more with iStock. Since August when I started, I've made a little over $200 between the 2 sites...so, not much, but a start.

There are people who do solid work, especially using live models to shoot good business / corporate and other type shots that make big bucks there, but it does take some work.

The process to upload pictures, assign keywords, etc...can take some time too, just as a heads up. If you want to chat more about it, PM me. Good luck.

I do a big volume of stock and it is not through the micropayment system. I will avoid those guys as long as I can. For me, it is definately worth it and what keep my ship afloat in a lot of ways.

What kinds of info and suggestions are you wanting?

Thanks,

RG
