Car Magnet? - 01-15-2007, 09:16 AM

Does anyone use a magnet on their car (back or door for example) to list their key business info? If so, any tips on getting one (where to go, how much it might cost, etc.)?

Just did it, so too early to tell if I'm going to get improvement in leads or not...

Here's another alternative..I thought this was a little professional looking, but costs more. I created the design and Fast Signs printed it on the same type of vinyl material and installed it for $170.

We definitely made our money back. People all over town recognize out truck!

For a magnet sign - I just found a good "cheap" method.

You can buy flex magnet sheets now with a sticky side for attaching photos. I found an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet at "Dollar Tree" for, you guessed it $1.

Now I can make my own sign and stick it on. I will probably apply a good preserve spray to it and then laminate it to help protect it from the elements before I use it though.

What does that do to your rearward visibility? I like how it looks, but I'm wondering how easy it is to see out the back. Also, are there any state regs that you need to be aware of with regards to this kind of stuff? I know that there are issues with window tinting, but I don't know anything about artwork like this.

Actually, if you use your vehicle in business use as well as in personal use. Most insurance companies have a business use rate class that is designed for something like this. You wouldn't have to get a business auto policy, just have the rate class changed from commuting back and forth to work to business use. Insurance people and realtor's are good examples. I have that rate class for my truck because I use it in my business to travel back and forth to clients.

The view from inside the vehicle looking out is unobstructed. The viynl is perforated with tiny holes so you can barely tell your looking though a sign.

As far as I know, there are no issuses or laws preventing this type of art work being applied to your vehicle EXCEPT on the driver & passenger windows.

Thanks Matt! I will ask our insurance agent about the rate class. Now that was helpful.

Not sure if this will matter, but we use only use the truck for actually business about 20% of the time. The other 80% is for family usage.

That's what I would let them know. They may not even change the rate class...but its better to have it listed that way. The business rate class is a little bit more expensive, but worth it if there was a claim.

It's always better to notify your insurance agent/company about things like that. That way they can make sure that you have the right coverage for you and help to insure you don't have a denied claim.
