Okay sports fans......I need some advice. I was contacted today by a national company here in Bwood, to do a party. I would set up and do one pose, 5x7 portrait of indviduals and couples at this party. The party should be about 250-300 people. I would print onsite. What I need to know is, has anyone done anything like this and how did you charge? I have already talked to two friends and they have given me a ball park to work with, but I would like to narrow it down a bit more. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. You can look at it two ways, one is a standard package set up and charge them a flat fee and with that offer X number of prints (say 200).
The other way to approach it is first think if you have a printer that can do the job already or if you need to buy a printer to do the job and see what the costs of a good printer would be along with the cost of a second set of inks and the paper and then figure out what your time is worth and price it that way.
(Customer doesn't need or really want a break down just a price for the party and don't be suprised if they want to talk you down a bit).
You may need a second person to assist, don't know if you can train horny toads to run the print station or not.

HAHAHAHAH! Paul, well, I already have a printer, but actually will be borrowing a friends, his does 5x7 and mine does 8x14 sheets, so no cutting with his......as for the horny toad to work the print station, I have one of those too, Im married to him! LOL
I was thinking about charging 10 bucks per person based on 250 people.....is that a resonable, fair price. If I do this right, this could turn into a thing 6 times a year!

Wish I could help you Ms. Heather, but this is way out of my area of expertise. I'd ask the sports league guys. They seem to do a fair bit of on-site stuff. I wish I could get my models interested in prints. Silly Internet girls think OMP is the place to get work

You just going to sell on size print or a package deal like 2 5x7, and wallets or 8x10 and wallets or 2 4x6. if you do more than just on print per person up the price, or offer them a package if they want to pay extra.

Several ways to do this:
1.) Show up and try to sell to the party participants 5x7 Prints for $50.
2.) Tell the company that you will have to charge them a Set-Up Fee of $50 per hour and then charge the participants 5x7 Prints for $50.
3.) Tell the company that they will have to be responsible for buying 200-300 5x7 Prints at a cost of $50.
4.) Combine any of the Options 1, 2 and 3 together.....

Oh there are 100 ways to charge someone, and the company is the one who is paying the entire cost of the event. What I want to know is, basically, 2500$ for 1-5x7 for 250 people, IS that a fair price? Is it too high, too low?

I always use a very elegant set-up.....so for me to charge $2000 - $3000 is the norm.
So, it depends on your background in my opinion.....

I'd suggest taking a backup printer, too. It would kind of blow if your printer died (for whatever reason) before the event is done.

As for pricing, you could have the group pay you in advance (recommened) or have them pay you by the couple that gets photoed.
The cheapest pro in town charges $750 for 300 5x7 and doesnt print onsite. Other photogs seem to be doing the $5 thing.
Any chance the company volunteered a price range? You'll see real fast if something can work or not. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
