Wedding Contract Question - 01-25-2007, 07:42 PM

Quick question...

I donated a wedding package to a local charity. It went great. We got publicity and they got a big contribution for it. Im meeting with the bride on Sat.

What type of a contact would you use? Since this isnt a normal wedding - meaning, shes paid in full ahead of time.

Basically, I wanted to cover my but. Any ideas? Should I just remove the $$ amounts from my reg contract and use the same thing?

Has anybody else in here been nuttie enough to donate a wedding package? Help!

Just put in that the prices is $0 and you're set.

By the way, I'm moving this to the business section.

I don't know if this helps or not, but maybe you should outline exactly what is included in the package. I don't know what is in your regular contract, but if you donated a package that is priced for six hours of work, make sure that your contract is clear about that.

You don't want the bride claiming you shorted her for time, or anything else, just because your contract doesn't clearly refernce a priced package.

I'd just make sure that what is included in your donation is clearly stated so there is no doubts.

I hope this all makes sense.

Yes! What Don said. Clearly lay out the details of the coverage in the contract and add a clause in there that states that it is free, and details of the dontation etc.

This is for the bride and you. This way there will be no mix-ups and misunderstandings on coverage time, album etc. or whatever it is you donated. Also, it is for you to have documentation of the service(s) rendered for tax purposes in the event of an audit. Paper trail baby! LOL

This is a little off topic, but how did you handle dates? did you list what dates you were booked before the auction? did the bride set the date with you after she won? just curious..

We required the bride to call within 30 days of the auction (she called in 24 hours) and set the date. We have 3 shooters on staff, so one of us could have covered it. I was crossing my fingers that it wasn't 7/7 - its not! Yippie! I was willing to risk it this once. Anyway, it's a Nov wedding. I lucked out.
