Will Assist for Wisdom

Picture this: I am standing on the corner with my cardboard sign that says I will assist you for the experience and your wisdom.
I am looking to move toward wedding/events/engagement photography and would like to tag along with some photogs. I am not looking for compensation other than experience and the potential to pop a few shots along the way. I have been shooting mostly sports stuff up until now. I don't mind helping with shots, lugging gear as needed as long as there is a learning situation to be involved in. If someone would like a 3rd shooter on a wedding I would be willing to do that as well. I understand about staying out of the way etc. Currently I do not have a portfolio of these type of shots. I will be working on that in the coming weeks with my daughters and their boyfriends and some other individuals. Currently my kit is as follows. (all Canon)

Canon 30d with vert grip
Kit lens 18-55
70-200L 2.8 IS USM
580 EX
Manfrotto Mono.

I'd be happy to help you out. I'm not due that direction for a while. There may be others that are closer to you. We also offer portrait wedding workshop opportunities to build portfolios and get some experience. You might want to look for that type of thing down by you - unless you want to drive up here! ;O)
